Two position openings in the Early Childhood, International, Crosscutting Studies Division at the National Center for Education Statistics within the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), the research arm of the U.S. Department of Education. The positions are located in the Annual Reports Program, which is responsible for indicator and other statistical reports on all levels of education. These two positions both require substantial experience in conducting statistical analyses on education or education-related topics and proficient oral and written communication skills. Research scientist positions in other areas also may be available for highly qualified applicants. Duties include: (1) manage statistical analysis projects and related publications; (2) conduct statistical analyses of complex national and international data bases, including surveys of households, schools, districts, states, and countries; (3) synthesize information from complex statistical analyses and present in a form accessible to general audiences; (4) use knowledge of education issues to prepare congressionally mandated, and other major reports, that effectively communicate policy-relevant information to decision makers; and (5) engage in dissemination activities, such as responding to inquiries from the research community, publishing scholarly work, and attending research conferences.For more information and application guidelines see: http://nces.ed.gov/whatsnew/jobs/job1.asp
