The American Association of Spinal Cord Injury Psychologists and Social Workers (AASCIPSW) was established in 1986 to promote education and research related to the psychosocial and vocational needs and rehabilitation of persons with spinal cord impairment (SCI). The Research Grant Program was subsequently established to encourage psychologists and social workers to develop, conduct, and evaluate research that expands the scientific body of knowledge related to the psychosocial and vocational aspects of SCI.
