The Criminal Justice Response to Sexual Violence: From Adolescence to Late Adulthood

NIJ is soliciting proposals for research on sexual violence, with the purpose of increasing women’s safety by informing and improving policy and practice in the criminal justice system. Proposed research may address intra-family, stranger, or acquaintance sexual violence against women and/or adolescent girls. For the purposes of this solicitation, sexual violence includes crimes identified by Federal and State statutes for rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, and attempted sexual assault. Intra-family sexual abuse is defined here as any act of sexual violence perpetrated by an individual or individuals with whom a girl or woman shares familial ties (e.g., parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, cousin, step-parent, etc.).
